Summery Position:

As a Food Safety Specialist at Yarzin Sella, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our food safety standards. You’ll ensure compliance with health, general safety, and food safety regulations, directly influencing the quality of our culinary offerings across multiple client sites.

You’ll collaborate with the operations team to maintain and providing essential support to ensure product quality. enhance food safety standards in a dynamic environment that values excellence and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Documentation

  • Compliance Enforcement: Actively manage and enforce compliance with health, general safety, and food safety regulations. Ensure the implementation and adherence to company policies, safety laws, and regulations.
  • Conduct routine food safety audits and inspections at assigned client locations
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date food safety documentation, including HACCP plans, temperature logs, and sanitation records
  • Track state-specific food safety requirements and licensing renewals across the region
  • Support preparation for third-party and health department inspections

Training & Education

  • Deliver food safety training to culinary and front-of-house teams, including new hire orientation. Implement training programs for new and existing employees. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for training and leverage technology for scalability and program monitoring.
  • Ensure team members maintain required certifications (ServSafe, state food handler permits, etc.)
  • Reinforce proper food handling, allergen management, and sanitation protocols through ongoing coaching

Incident Response & Reporting

  • Assist in investigating food safety incidents or complaints and documenting corrective actions
  • Escalate critical issues to the Regional Work and Food Safety Manager promptly
  • Track and report on food safety KPIs and trends across sites
  • Reporting: Regularly compile reports on safety metrics.

Operational Support

  • Partner with site managers and culinary teams to implement best practices
  • Support new site openings and mobilizations by establishing food safety protocols
  • Stay current on industry regulations, emerging risks, and food safety trends
  • Safety Supervision: Oversee daily safety protocols at all locations, covering quality and OSHA compliance, site-specific layouts, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Conduct on-site analyses/inspections to identify and eliminate unsafe practices.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related role in food service or hospitality
  • ServSafe Manager Certification required; additional certifications (HACCP, SQF) a plus
  • Working knowledge of FDA Food Code, state health regulations, and OSHA standards
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Ability to travel regularly within the region (up to 50%)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and coach diverse teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with food safety management software preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Public Health, or related field
  • At least 2 years of Experience in multi-unit or corporate dining environments
  • English- Must. Additional languages- An advantage
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in food safety, food technology, or project management in the food industry
  • Practical experience in kitchens, or production facilities, and quality controls of catering operations; strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal collaboration skills with a high level of emotional intelligence

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Physical Ability: Ability to perform tasks such as bending, climbing, reaching, and crouching

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
  • Work Hours: Full day position, Monday to Friday, without nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Physical Requirements include standing for long periods and lifting objects.
